Spy Ethics

Room One has become spy's because of Carmen Sandiego. We have a spy ethics poster in our class. We had to remake it on a google slide and maybe a google drawing. I found it hard to remember the facts. I found it easy to make the slides.

Phishing and Scams GIF

 For Cybersmart we made a GIF. The GIF was a GIF of our Phishing and Scams google slide. I found nothing hard. I found everything easy about Cybersmart this week.

Sam Gibson

This week in Room One Sam Gibson came to look at our traps. He also told us about some facts about rats, stoats, etc. We had to make a google slide or drawing. I choose a google slide. I found it hard to make the google slide. I found it easy to put the facts in the slide because I remembered the facts.

Space Race Book Review

This week in the Fantastic Four we had to read to the end of the book. I found the book boring. Most of the time I didn't know what was happening also I can read so it's not my fault I don't understand it. I hated reading the book. The only good thing about the book was end why because it ended.

Kapa Haka Performance

This week on Tuesday we did the kapa haka performance. The girls wore all black but some of the girls wore blue skirts. The boys wore no shirts and black shorts. I get to wear a shirt because I almost had a panic attack when I found out we were taking of out shirts. When we got up on the stage I had so much anxiety. I was loud apparently. 

Phishing and Scams

For Cybersmart we learnt about phishing and scams. We had to make a google slide on examples of Phishing and scams and how to stay safe from them. I found it hard to do all the slides. I found nothing easy.

Swimming

This term we're doing swimming for two weeks. You have to do swimming. I enjoy swimming it's fun. When I found out we we're doing swimming I was not very excited. But now I super excited to do swimming each day. I main problem though I getting changed I hate getting changed in public places it's the only reason I wasn't happy for swimming.

Kapa Haka

Next week we will be doing the our kapa haka performance at the show grounds. As I make this blog post in Room One the rest of the Seniors are doing kapa haka. I can hear them. And there not even doing the haka yet. I used to not really like doing kapa haka but I'm starting to like it. It's a bit to late though since the performance is near the start of next week.

Phobias

At home I've been researching phobias. I didn't have to make this blog post but I like blogging so why not. In this blog post  I'll just tell you about some phobias I've learnt about. Do you know what Nyctophobia, Nyctophobia is a phobia of the dark. Did you know there's a phobia of Lego. It's called Lateriphobia. Do you like words? you most likely do but if you have Verbophobia you will not like words because Verbophobia is a phobia of words. Do you know what Epistemophobia is it's a phobia of knowledge that's right knowledge. And finally the final phobia Aichmophobia a phobia of needles, knifes, etc. fun fact there's a high chance I might be Aichmophobic one of the ways phobias are caused by is traumatic memories. I've had a lot of traumatic memories with needles and knifes.

Movie Project

This week for Cyber Smart we made a movie with Room Eight. He had to team up with one of the kids in the class and make a movie with them. I found it really really hard to make the movie. Ghost Illustration

This week for Ghost tasks one of the things we could do was a wanted poster for Ghost. Why you might asking because he stole some shoes in the book. I used google drawing to make the wanted poster I only used google drawing cause I wanted to post it on my blog. I found it fun  to make the google drawing. It was hard to make the picture of Ghost though.

Space Race Book

This week in the Fantastic Four we had to describe environment. In one scene it says "In the eerie silence he could he Ben's breathing." I image in that scene this just silence. In another scene it says "Kimi looked up towards the ceiling." I image a ceiling in this scene. We also have to describe what we smelled and tasted but I can't really describe what I think some scenes in the story would taste or smell. I found it hard to describe the scene. Parihaka

This week we learnt about Parihaka. Parihaka was a peaceful village. When they found out they we going to be invaded  the children danced, the women baked bread. All the men were sent to prison. Nobody was killed. Anyway we had to make a google drawing on Parihaka. Nike and Adidas

This term we're reading a book called Ghost. Since we're reading Ghost, we have Ghost tasks. One of the tasks we have to research 
Nike and Adidas.  

All Souls Day

This month is all souls day. On all souls day we pray to those who have died. When you die you might go to purgatory. Purgatory is when you wait to be accepted into heaven. On all souls day you can pray to those who have died. 

Kimi and Ben Google Drawing

In the Fantastic Four we got to read a book called Space Race. This book is not about the Space Race between America and Russia.  After we read to chapter two we could do task 1, task 1 is a google drawing of the two main characters. I found it hard to make the faces of the characters. and I found it easy the make the rest of the body

Rugby World Cup

In Room One we've been learning about the Rugby World Cup.
One of the ways we've been learning about the Rugby World Cup was making a google drawing about it or  a maths quiz like game about the Rugby World Cup. I found it really hard to make the google drawing. I found nothing easy.

Dumplings

This week for Mandarin today Room 1, 2, and 3 got to make dumplings. Room 2 made their dumplings first. Then Room 1. And then Room 3 made their dumplings last. We got the choose if we wanted to make some dumplings and eat them. I chose not to eat them. I got to take some pictures. I think I'm pretty lucky. 

Tupaia

In the Fantastic Four this week we read a book about Tupaia, and we had to write why we think Tupaia should be remembered. I found it hard to write why Tupaia should be remembered. And I found it easy to read the book about Tupaia. Here's why I think Tupaia should be remembered. I think it is very important for new zealanders to now how Tupaia is. Tupaia was a master at navigation. He was also an artist and a priest. His job on the Endeavor was interpreter or translator and an intermediary. On October 8th Cook went to New Zealand without Tupaia. A group performed a haka Cook was so frightened by them, he had them all shot and killed. If Tupaia was there he could have told Cook that they were welcoming him. Tupaia died on 11 of November 1770 of Malaria and disease caused by mosquito. So I think he should be remembered for the things he did and the things he could have proventented.

Defenders Flag Desgin

This term we're  reading a book called ghost, in the book the a track team called the defenders I won't spoil that much but he does join the track team. Anyway we had to design a flag for the defenders. I found it tough to get an good png of a person sitting and a good bench. I found it easy to make the defenders flag.

Smart Media

For CyberSmart today we learnt how to verify online information and how we can tell a fake image from a real image. I found it pretty fun to make an impossible thing to do at school. I found it a bit hard to come up with some ideas but I got some ideas. 

The AMP Show

On the 19th of October my mum and me went to AMP Show. but on the free calendar we got, it said it was on the 14th. Anyway this year my mum got me a scream pass, if you have a scream pass you can go on The Sizzler, The Gravitron, The Round Up, The Hurricane, The Explorer, And The Scream Machine. I went on the Scream Machine first I was extremely anxious like everything I do.  I could hear people screaming their lungs out. It  gave me much more anxiety. When I got on the Scream Machine I was excited and nervous. As soon as it started I absolutely loved it. I love the feeling of falling. But it only lasted a minute or so. Then the next ride I went on was the Explorer it just you just hopped in a rocket and it spun you around same with the Hurricane but th Hurricane goes higher. The Gravitron spun you around really fast the Round Up was like the Gravitron but it didn't hurt and the Round Up spun like a wheel. And the Slizzer it was tame, I didn't wanna go on it since it was quite tame and if I went on it I would have less time to go on the other rides. My mum and me also got some food and walked home which was quite painful for my feet.

Holiday Recount Writing

In Room One we did recap writing. We could chose what we wanted to write about. I chose to write about the holiday I had in 2018. I found it difficult to write my recap a second time. I found it easy to write it the first time.

Gah, the smell of Rotorua makes me wanna puke. I see the motel we’re staying at looks cosy I thought I wonder what it looks like inside. I go inside it smells great. And there’s a hot tub I wanted to go in. the bathroom was fancy. The next day we went to this massive building it had vr headsets, an escape room, basketball, mini golf, blowing, laser tag, etc. The next day we went to this crystal shop. By the way I also collect crystals. I got a volcano fragment, this black and white crystal, and some other crystals I don’t remember. We also went to taupo. When I saw lake taupo it was enormous. When we got to the motel it had a water park behind it there was this green pool that sparkled shimmered like an emerald. There was also the dragon slide it was amazing. And there were hot tubs there were supper warm and relaxing. And this water playground it was just a normal playground but water was being shot out of the ground. It was more for little kids. The next day we were going to napier and home. We were going to the napier aquarium. We used google maps to help us find us find it. As soon as we got to our destination we saw a fish shop so we looked for it ourselves. After ten minutes or so we found it. It has sting rays, penguins, fossils. Then we went home, Since I had nothing to do I went on my mums phone all the way home.

The Month of the Rosary

It is october and the month of the rosary. We had to make a rosary on google explaining where and what prays you says. I found it tedious to do this whole thing. I found everything hard. 

Broken Wing Comic Strip

In the fantastic four reading group we had to make a comic strip of the book broken wing or something else. I made my comic strip on broken wing. I found everything hard. And I found nothing easy.

The Media

This week for cybersmart what got to learn about the media  and how we used it in our lives. We also got to see what type of media we've used in this week and make ourselves on our favourite type of media. I found it hard to make myself on a laptop. Although I it was hard I still enjoyed making myself on the laptop.

Fire Snake

At home today my mum and me made a fire snake. I used sugar, baking soda, lighter fluid, and sand. I found it hard to breathe because it smelled edsdesterrible. I found it fun to watch the fire. 

Magic Snowmen

At home I did a science experiment . My mum and me made snowmen out of baking soda, salt, dish washing liquid and water. I found it hard making the snowmen because they break easily. I found it fun melting them with the blue vinegar concoction.

Rugby World Cup 2

In Room One we've been making google drawings or  a math quiz I chose the google drawing. I found nothing hard and I found everything easy

Recount Writing

In Room One we've been learning how to write a recount I did it on my birthday. I enjoyed writing my story. I found it hard writing it my second time.

Crunch crunch crunch the sound of my present made as I opened it. It was a box with a picture of a stethoscope on it. I open the box the I see a stethoscope I thought it was a toy but it wasn't it was real I wanted to use it. I put it on my chest I felt my heartbeat I was  amazed it works. I decided to go back to my laptop and play some games.Then it was school time I wanted to go early. After I got back from school I opened my second present it looked like a book in its wrapping. I open it I was correct it was a book a book about the most deadliest diseases in history. There were diseases like smallpox, the Spanish flu, cholera, and malaria in it . Then I went down to my room and put the book on my shelf. I had to wait for my dad to get home from work so I could open my final present and light my candles. After  an hour or so he got home and I could finally open my last present. I saw the present in its wrapping it was gigantic I stare at it then I decide to open it. It was a microscope as soon as I saw it, I wanted to test it on something. I started searching for a test subject that's dead. I find a bug graveyard there were spiders, moths and beetles. I chose to test the spider I put it under the microscope. I see its long hairy leg it looked like it was from a horror movie. After twenty minutes or so I got bored and wanted to light my candles. I held my baby brother and my mum sang happy birthday. My baby brother wanted to touch the candles luckily he didn’t get burnt. I blew it out smoke filled the sky and then it was gone. My cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and freddo frogs on it. My dinner was amazing! I had a Pizza Hut cheese pizza, nuggets, chips, Coke, Mc flurry, and a cheese burger. I ate like a king that night. I went on the laptop for a bit then I went to bed.  

Birthday

A few days ago it was my.  I've gotten 8 gifts 3 of them are games on my laptop the other 5 I'll show in this blog post and my birthday cake. Here are some photos. 

Seeking Help

In Room One we've been  about learning cyberbullying and how we can prevent it in a google drawing showing you what to do if your being cyber bullied. I found it hard making the google drawing. I found nothing easy.

Rugby World Cup

In Room One we've been learning about the Rugby World Cup we could chose to make a google drawing a the world cup or make a google drawing on the Rugby World Cup or a maths quiz on the Rugby World Cup. I found everything hard and nothing easy

Show Art

In Room One we've been making art for the show I made a sunset and we had to do it the a second time because we used the wrong paper size. I found it hard doing it the second time. I found it fun making it.

Animal Mascot

In Room One we've been learning how to put something in our cybersmart folder and how to make an animal mascot with the national flower and flag from a different country. I found it hard drawing. And I found nothing easy.

Paikea and the Whale

In room one each reading group was assigned a Maori legend my reading group was assigned Paikea and the Whale we had to make a google drawing about the whale. I found it hard making the google drawing but I also found it hard once I knew what I was doing

Speech

This week we've been doing our speech's. I felt a little bit nervous. We had to be clear voice, stand still, speak loudly, go at your on pace, look at the crowd, use expression, include a rhetorical question and be persuasive. My speech was on climate change you can see it on my climate change post.

10 Doors

In Room 1 we've been making games on google slides. I found it easy to link the slides. and I found it hard to find images I wanted. Play it if you want.

Sploosh

In Room One we've been learning how to make a persuasive advertisement. I enjoyed making my on advertisement. And I found it hard picking colours. 

Climate Change

In Room One we've been learning about climate change. I found it hard to write my story. And I found it easy to do my story the second time.

What is climate change and how does it affect us?  Climate change is different from global warming. Climate change is the climate being changed such as rain, hail and more storms. Global warming is the earth's temperature getting warmer.

The Amazon Rainforest is being burned down. The Amazon makes 20 percent of the world's oxygen. Also there are thousands of animals species such as toucans, sloths, tarantulas and green anaconda living there. And there are hundreds of tribes men that live in the Amazon Rainforest.

The glaciers are being melted from the warmer temperature. Since they are melting it could submerged or even flood islands. The seas temperature is also rising which can kill marine life. Since the glaciers are melting polar bears are losing their habitats.

Fossil fuels are being used too much. They are used for gas, plastic and a lot more things. When fossil fuels are used, it releases an incredible amount Co2 or carbon dioxide. Also fossil fuels make a lot of hot air. And once we use every fossil fuel on the planet we will run out. But once we run out we can never get any more oil.

So that's why I think we need to try a little bit harder to save the earth.

Amazon RainForest Wildfires

In Room One we've been learning about how the Amazon Rainforest is being burnt down. We had to make a google drawing.
I found it hard to find images. I found it fun to make the google drawing.

Maths Quiz

In Room One we've been learning how to link slides and create a quiz of google slides. I found it hard to link the slides to the correct slides. I had to learn how to embed my slides again. I found it enjoyable though to make my quiz. Play my quiz if you want.

Pollination Animation

In our class we've been learning about how bees produce honey. I found it enjoyable to make the animation. I also found it hard to make the animation.

Caged Chickens Should Be Banned

In our class we've been learning how to do persuasive  writing
I found it easy to find facts. And I found it hard to write about those facts.
Would you torture a chicken for a cheaper egg? I firmly believe that caged chickens should be illegal. There are to many caged chickens, there can be 40,000 caged chickens in one shed. Chickens have the space of an A4 piece of paper. 82 percent of chickens that lay eggs are caged

Chickens that are caged can get many diseases. They can get osteoporosis. They can also get fatty. Since they get no sunlight they also get rackets.

Finally they can’t act natural. They can’t scratch for food, they can’t have dust baths to get parasite's off them, they can't flap their wings. They can’t fly. There not able to make nests. Since there so squashed they cannibalise on each other.

That's why I think caged chickens should be banned

Interdependence

Today I was learning about interdependence. I enjoyed making my google drawing. I found it challenging to do my screencastify. My digital learning object shows I can use google drawing to show what interdependence is. Next time I don't think I would change anything about it.

Tom Fedro Art

     In Room 1 we’ve been learning how to paint like Tom Fedro. I found it fun to blend colours but I found it hard to draw the eyes.

Saint Mary MacKillop

Saint Mary MacKillop
Who is Mary MacKillop? 
Mary MacKillop was the oldest of 8 siblings. Mary's  parents were Catholic were immigrants from Scotland. Mary’s first job was as a clerk at the age of 14.

What did Mary MacKillop do? 
Saint Mary MacKillop loved children and she would become a teacher. She would teach kids Reading, Writing, Maths, and R.E. Mary MacKillop would carry lollies and would give them to children. She also travelled to Australia and New Zealand and set up schools.

How did Mary MacKillop become a saint? 
She was beatified by Pope John II then canonized by Pope Benedict XVI.

Swing

In our class we've been learning how to remove a background from a photo. I enjoyed putting myself on the swing and I found it hard to do everything else. 

Bee Facts

In our class we've been learning about bees. We have to put five facts we didn't know about bees. I found it hard with the finding a background that I wanted.

Writing Classes

Every Monday Tuesday and Wednesday I go to these writing classes with five other people. We learn how to write better. We also learn how to spell better. I enjoy writing about stuff in the class. I find it tricky to write some letters right mainly hanging letters.

Matariki

In our class room we've been learning about Matariki.

Matariki is a Maori name for a cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. For Maori it’s the start of a new year. In the old times it was about remembering people who have passed away and planting plants but now we fly kites, eat food, and fire fireworks.

There are nine stars in Matariki and they have their own name. Their names are Pohutukawa, Tupuanuku, Tupuarangi, Waiti, Waipunarangi, Ururangi, Hiwa-i-te-rangi. I think that Matariki should be a public holiday because Matariki is a time  to celebrate and be with family. If Matariki is a public holiday then family living in different places have more time to travel home.

I found it hard finding information and putting it in my own words.

How To Float An Egg

We are learning to do science investigations.

I enjoyed putting the salt in the water to make it float.

I found it challenging to remember the stuff we needed because I was pretty busy.

Profile

My name is Blaze and I go to St Mary's School. I live with my mum my dad and my baby brother. We call our baby brother Baba but it’s not his real name. I was born in Gisborne, New Zealand.

I'm in Room 1 and am in Year 6 at St Marys. I am good at Reading. I am kind of good at Maths but not so good at Writing. I am ok at Handwriting and am fine at P.E. I enjoy Art and running. I'm trying to learn how to divide in maths.

I don’t know what to look forward to this year because I don’t know what’s going to happen this year. One
of my achievements is getting a prize for dancing.
